U.S. Government Publishing Office · SPA 1234M

A federal ordering path for small language jobs.

Taika Translations is an approved vendor on GPO Simplified Purchase Agreement 1234M. 1234M is GPO's general agreement for printed products and print-related services at or below $10,000 per order — and at or below $5,000 an agency needs a quotation from just one registered vendor. That makes a single translated notice or one remediated PDF genuinely orderable. Veteran-owned; GSA Schedule holder.

What this vehicle is

A simplified path for federal work under $10,000.

A Simplified Purchase Agreement lets a federal agency buy a small, non-repetitive publishing need without running a full procurement. GPO solicits and administers the agreement, an authorized agency purchaser requests a quote and issues a work order, and GPO handles payment. Taika was approved under Program 1234M on 22 May 2026 and issued Purchase Order X0472.

To be precise about what 1234M is. It is GPO's general agreement covering the spectrum of printed products and print-related services at or below $10,000 per order — it does not designate or reserve translation. Taika is an approved vendor on it; certified translation, multilingual document production and Section 508 remediation are what we supply under it. Read the agreement itself: SPA 1234-M (PDF, gpo.gov).

What the agreement actually gives you

Four terms worth knowing before you order.

One quotation under $5,000

For work valued at $5,000 or less, GPO requires a quotation from a minimum of one registered SPA vendor. An authorized purchaser can come straight to us — no solicitation to run, no new contract to put in place.

Three quotations above $5,000

Above $5,000, GPO requires quotations from a minimum of three registered SPA vendors. Include us as one of your three and we return a written quote — same business day where the specification allows.

Price parity is a contract term

Under the agreement, prices offered on this SPA are no higher than we charge any other customer for a like product or service. That is a term GPO holds us to, not a discount we advertise.

Nothing is subcontracted

No print subcontracting is permitted under this agreement, so the work is produced by our own team rather than passed to a third party — one accountable vendor on the file.

Thresholds and work-order rules are GPO's, published on GPO's Simplified Purchase Agreement page. Orders may only be solicited from authorized agency personnel, and no order may exceed the authority limit of the individual placing it — verifiable in GPO Publish.

How to order

Three steps, and one form.

  1. Send us the specification. Tell us the languages, page count, format and deadline, and whether the deliverable has to pass Section 508. We will tell you plainly whether it fits inside the SPA's $10,000 per-order ceiling — before a work order is issued.
  2. We quote at SPA terms. You get a written quote under the Simplified Purchase Agreement, with the documentation your procurement file needs. If the job belongs on our GSA Schedule instead, we will say so.
  3. Issue Form 4044 and we produce. Work begins on a completed SPA Work Order (GPO Form 4044) from an official whose authority limit covers the order — never before it. We invoice through GPO's process with the barcode cover sheet and proof of delivery.

Not sure whether your job fits the SPA? Send the specification below. If it is over the ceiling, or better placed on our GSA Schedule 47QRAA18D00GT, we will tell you rather than quote something you cannot buy.

What we supply under it

Language and accessibility work, produced in-house.

These are Taika's services, offered under the vehicle — not categories the programme designates. A translated document that fails Section 508 solves one access problem and creates another, so we deliver the translation and the remediation together rather than as two separate jobs.

  • Certified & standard document translation
  • Multilingual document production & foreign-language typesetting
  • Section 508 / accessible document remediation
  • Design & desktop publishing for multilingual materials
  • Transcription & captioning
  • On-demand & scheduled interpretation

Languages

Every language your public speaks — 300+ in all.

Roughly one in five people in the United States speaks a language other than English at home, and about 8.6% are limited English proficient (U.S. Census Bureau) — which is why a federal publication so often needs a translated, 508-conformant edition beside the English one. The languages federal agencies ask us for most include Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin & Cantonese), Vietnamese, Korean, Tagalog, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Russian, French and Portuguese, alongside American Sign Language, Braille and large print. Taika delivers all of these — and 300+ languages in total through 2,000+ vetted linguists, including rare and Indigenous languages most vendors cannot staff.
