For PREA Coordinators & Compliance Managers

The interpreter access your PREA plan requires — on demand.

28 CFR §115.16 requires qualified interpreters for residents who are limited English proficient, deaf, or hard of hearing — and bars using other inmates to interpret except in narrow emergencies. Taika gives your PREA Coordinator a documented, always-available path: phone and video interpreting in minutes, ASL / VRI, translated PREA notices and grievance forms, and localized PREA training — all on your contract vehicle, with the records your audit needs.

One partner for the whole facility

Everything a facility needs to communicate — in one contract.

Fragmented vendors slow you down and split accountability. Taika delivers translation, interpreting, transcription, training media, and accessibility under one agreement and one account team.

Certified & legal document translation

Inmate handbooks, grievance and disciplinary forms, medical and mental-health documents, policies, PREA notices, and legal filings — translated by subject-matter linguists with a signed certificate of accuracy for court and agency use.

Interpretation — phone, video, on-site & ASL

On-demand phone (OPI) and video-remote (VRI) interpreting, scheduled on-site interpreters, and ASL / CART for intake, medical and mental-health encounters, disciplinary and parole hearings, and family visitation — around the clock in 300+ languages.

Transcription of the record

Accurate transcription of recorded calls, interviews, investigations, and hearings — verbatim or clean-read — with English translation of non-English audio when you need the record in one language.

Training video & material creation

We create and localize staff and resident training — PREA, orientation, safety, and policy — with scripting, professional voiceover, subtitling, and multilingual versions ready for tablets, kiosks, or your LMS.

Section 508, ADA / WCAG & alternative formats

Remediation of public-facing DOC websites, resident tablet and kiosk content, PDFs, and e-learning to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA — plus captioning, braille, and large-print alternative formats so blind and low-vision residents get effective communication too.

Language Access Plan support

We help you build and document a Language Access Plan that holds up to Title VI, EO 13166, and PREA review — with the vendor paperwork your compliance file needs.

Meet every mandate

Built around the rules your facility answers to.

Language access in corrections isn't optional — it's federal law and PREA policy. Taika helps you satisfy each obligation and document that you did.

PREA Standard — 28 CFR §115.16

The Prison Rape Elimination Act standards require facilities to provide qualified interpreters for residents who are limited English proficient, deaf, or hard of hearing — and prohibit relying on other inmates for interpretation except in limited emergencies. We give your PREA Coordinator a compliant, on-demand path to that access.

Title VI & Executive Order 13166

Agencies receiving federal funds must take reasonable steps to provide meaningful access to limited-English-proficient individuals. Certified translation and qualified interpreting are how facilities meet that duty.

ADA Title II & Section 504

Public entities must ensure effective communication with people who have disabilities — including ASL and video-remote interpreting and accessible digital content. We cover both the human and the digital side.

Digital accessibility deadline — WCAG 2.1 AA

Under the ADA Title II web rule, public entities serving 50,000 or more must meet WCAG 2.1 AA by April 26, 2027; smaller entities and special districts by April 26, 2028. We remediate DOC sites, tablet/kiosk content, PDFs, and video captioning to close the gap.
